Pedro Porro in FPL: Must-have or easy fade?

Analysing Porro's attacking potential

The international break is nearing its end, and I’m sure you have already decided on who your priority transfers are.

You might be eyeing high-upside picks like Mbeumo and Eze or focusing on solving xMins/injury issues that emerged in previous weeks. They always do, don’t they?

In the current FPL landscape, there’s not much focus on defenders because, let’s be honest, there are not many standout options right now. That said, I see a lot of upside in Tottenham’s Pedro Porro.

I actually think he’s a comfortable long-term hold. In times of uncertainty, he brings much-needed stability.

Think Chelsea players, but the total opposite.

Missing set pieces - reason to panic?

If you’re a Spurs fan or someone who watches many Premier League games, you might have noticed that James Maddison has reestablished himself as the main set-piece taker.

In the 2023/24 season, he was sidelined for quite some time, which led to Porro taking about 44% of all the long corners. He even kept delivering them towards the end of the season once Maddison returned, which was quite surprising.

However, this season, Porro hasn’t taken one yet. Maddison is on 12, and Kulusevski with Bergwall shared the remaining 8.

Which should make the Spaniard a much worse FPL asset, right? Well, it’s not that simple.
